"White Water, Black Rain" Review

"White Water, Black Rain" by Agen Judi Bandarqq is the new novel by Agen Judi Bandarqq. The novel follows Agen Judi Bandarqq as she discovers that her life will be altered in a profound way after getting married. She is then faced with a decision - should she leave the house in shame or continue to live a lie and die of embarrassment?

"White Water, Black Rain" is part of the "Modern Romance" series by Agen Judi Bandarqq. The "Modern Romance" series is an alternate reality novel by Agen Judi Bandarqq in which she explores the aftermath of a tragic and bizarre event - where a young woman suddenly dies while she is out shopping with a group of friends, while the life of the dead woman is forced into the mind of a young man who comes to believe she is a ghost. As the ghost of the woman begins to stalk him, he uses his newfound abilities to uncover dark secrets from her past and a terrifying present - what he thought was an innocent summer vacation turns into a nightmare as he struggles to escape from his haunted reality.

In the beginning of the book, it is made clear that there is a flaw in her ability to see her shadows; it's an inherent flaw in her powers of concentration, and she is forced to use her abilities on others to be able to prevent her from becoming haunted. The story follows her for some time as she struggles to figure out why she has this flaw, while also trying to find ways to protect herself from being haunted herself. What is fascinating about the book is how Agen Judi Bandarqq keeps a very conscious awareness of herself throughout the whole book. She knows who she is, but she is not sure who she wants to be or if she can have that realization without affecting the people around her.

I particularly like how this story was told through the eyes of the female protagonist as she understood not only the beauty of the world but also the importance of preserving it for her entire world. She also understood that if she allowed herself to be haunted or possessed by the ghost, it would result in the end of her ability to sense the spirits. This gives the reader a unique and poignant insight into what it feels like to be trapped in a ghostly existence.

The book starts off by showing us what the young woman does when she is out in public with her friends - she studies the life of the ghost, trying to find out if it is something she has brought upon herself or if there is something she is not telling herself. Through this we are allowed to see the fear she feels whenever she sees her shadow in a mirror, as it was before she discovered that she had a problem with her ability to concentrate and could not focus on the negative feelings caused by her shadow.

Throughout the book, Agen Judi Bandarqq has chosen to tell her story with a very social nature and shows her interactions with her friends, the readers, and how they affect her. It is also possible to read the story as a kind of social commentary on why women are often held back socially in their lives and how they can be more assertive. We see that Agen Judi Bandarqq is not afraid to discuss her personal feelings and fears - something that is often kept in private and discussed by women to the other women.

As a book, "White Water, Black Rain" is a page turner and I found myself desperately wanting to read more about Agen Judi Bandarqq. There were parts of the book that I felt I didn't quite get - but I'm glad I finished it because it really made me think about what the experience of being haunted can feel like. If you are someone who is looking for a new female take on ghost stories, then this book is definitely for you.
